Background |
| The Basic Life Support Instructor Course (BLS-I)
aims to develop proficiency in teaching BLS provider courses.
It includes the ability to set up different BLS provider
courses based on the needs of the participants. The primary
objective of the BLS Provider Instructor Course is to
help the instructor candidates to develop the necessary
skill to teach so that at the end of any BLS course, the
participants should be able to demonstrate the core skills
taught in the class. |

Material |
| It is strongly recommended that candidate read the AHA
BLS Provider Manual and Instructor’s manual before
the class. The course material including AHA BLS instructor's
Manual can be collected after successful registration.
Early registration and collection of course materials
is much encouraged. |

Pre-requisites |
- Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider
/ ACLS Provider status who are interested in teaching
AHA BLS Provider courses and want to be AHA ACLS instructors
to conduct AHA ACLS Provider courses
- Achieve 90% or better score on the 25-question
healthcare provider examination without remediation
- Demonstrate acceptable provider skills
- Provide a completed instructor candidate application
- Agree to teach at least 4 courses
in a 2-year period
- Be aligned with an AHA training centre

| Success
BLS Instructor should be finally approved by 3-step process |
- Successful Completion of the BLS Instructor Course;
- Monitored Teaching: the candidate must participate
actively and effectively in at least one BLS provider
course (Date of BLS Provider course will be informed
after application) while being monitored by a BLS
affiliate faculty member or BLS course director /
instructor trainer;
- Faculty/Affiliate Review: The successful participant
will receive a BLS Instructor card after review of
the above experiences by discretionary panel.
