American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Course
 
Course Background
The Basic Life Support (BLS) Course for Healthcare Providers aims to provide BLS knowledge and skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen), use of automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). This program will make use of videotape, practical session and instructor discussion to help participants to provide basic life support in different settings.
 
The Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine has been providing resuscitation training since 1991. All accredited AHA instructors are practicing medical or nursing colleagues with years of teaching experience.
 
 
Course Test
To complete the BLS Course for Healthcare Providers, Candidate should able to demonstrate the skills of CPR, mouth-to-mask and bag-mask ventilation, use of AEDs, and relief of FBAO for the responsive and unresponsive victim.
 
A post-course written MCQ examination will be issued. Passing rate is 85%.
 
 
Reading Material
The AHA BLS Provider Manual is ready for collection after successful application. Early registration and collection of course materials is recommended.

Course Fee
$450 for all Professional Healthcare Providers (from July 2007) (Fees are inclusive of morning and afternoon tea, AHA course materials and certificate, but exclusive of lunch)
