Background |
| The AHA Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) Provider Course focus at prevention and specifically the assessment, recognition and stabilization of pediatric victims at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress. The course material is consistent with the content of the AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider Course (PALS). The course is specially designed for health care providers who may encounter pediatric patients but do not require all the advanced skills in the PALS course. |

| Course Pre-requisites |
| Personnel who are working in emergency, intensive care, critical care or acute departments/wards; emergency medical providers such as medical officers, nurses, emergency technicians, paramedics and other professionals who need to handle pediatric emergencies. |
| |
| A valid AHA BLS Provider status or equivalent is required. |

| |
| Candidates are strongly recommended to read the AHA PEARS Provider Course Student Manual before attending the course. Early registration and collection of course materials is much encouraged. |

| Course Completion |
| In order to complete the course, the candidates should: |
| - Demonstrate efficient skills in performing quality CPR and use of AED |
| - Demonstrate proficiency in patient assessment in the skills station |
| - Pass in the post-course Video-based MCQ test (Pass mark: 84%) |
| |
| AHA PEARS Provider Course Completion Card will be issued to candidates who have successfully completed the course |
